This is the second piece in Bedell's Part Of The Furniture series that was imagined over the course of the lockdown during the pandemic. During this time she became fascinated with the idea of "home" life, albeit more often a fantasy idea of regal, decorative interiors, or the outdoors and wildlife merging into our indoors.
Sitting on the sofa or staring at the walls for weeks on end in reality was a pretty mundane existence at best, and at times it did feel like we had literally merged with the space that we were living in.
Part Of The Furniture is a playful take on the phrase; escaping the bland everyday through a highly romanticised and exaggerated vision of still, solitary home life.
